Breaking from the 6 box on the dropdown to grade B, Stud came out like he had tarred heels, and was forced into the 5 dog by the 7 dog, while well back of the early pace.

The 5 dog dove for the rail when clear of others, and that opened a lane for Stud as the passed the first wire. He made an impressive move forward at that point, to fall in just behind the 2 pacesetters, who were a length apart, and occupying the 1 and 3 lanes, going into the turn.

Stud chose to race wide of them, though he might have tucked in on the rail to wait for a lane to open, behind the leader, or between the 2 in front of him---a wise move, indicative of some track sense.....and from the 4 lane, he displayed an impressive turn of foot, from the escape and onto the backstretch, and had made up 3 or so lengths, and gone clear by two, as the raced into the 4th turn, with the 5 dog again looming large, wide of Stud. He couldn't make as clean a pass of the early leader as Stud had, and Stud spurted clear by 3 as they straightened out, holding a safe lead to the wire, while tiring late.

A very impressive performance, (if we throw out the lackadaisical beginning), where he truly looked like a grade A racing among lesser greyhounds.
