Whistler's Fine finished second today.

I think Rock has mentioned before that he might be suited to a longer distance race, and today he ran 678 yards (what they call the Keystone course at Wheeling), rather than the 548 Panhandle course we usually see.

He broke well, and together with another dog was well clear of the field most of the way. He seem to tire coming to the line and I thought he'd get swallowed up by the 'pack' behind, but he just managed to hang on to a well-deserved second spot.

It will be interesting to follow his progress at this new distance!

He should do better his 2nd time around the course. He didn't get to school there, and they usually get confused as to when the race will end, if they haven't raced the course before....he shuld be ok in 3/8ths, as long as he breaks well....thats where the money is.

That's pretty common for a young dog in his first distance race. He'll get stronger and more confident with each race.
