He's done it - Stud broke his maiden tonight! Smile

Chart comments say 'coasted home'. He's really taking off now after a worrying start when he first schooled at Derby Lane.

Go Stud! clapping2

Just curious at a track like Derby Lane what does a 1st place maiden race pay? Also a grade A win?
I dont have any idea just curious. And what's the breakdown thru the 4 places.

What a hoot.....after all this time.....he looks short, too....but he ran the first turn very bravely, under pressure...that had to cost him a few steps.

I think Derby Lane pays about $80 a point. My guess is that a M win is 6 points so Stud's win was worth $480 total or $240 for RFA.

Last week a grade A win @ Derby Lane paid $347.00. The points are guaranteed at $80 and if tourism remains the same as pre-storms, during the winter months the points go to around $100. But the hurricanes hitting FL have changed everything-at least for us up here around PE. What was unexpected (to me) was that St Pete pays purse for 4th place-that was a nice surprise!

Is that the total purse, or the owner's share?

Bob has enlisted the help of various people in getting the weekly points from all the tracks the RFA hounds race. Bob's keeping spreadsheets with each dog's earnings so we have a record of the funds they are raising.

Just checked Derby Lane, and since mid-November points have been anywhere between $80 - $106 per point.

A 5/16 Grade A win earns 7 points, a Grade M win earns 3.

So, in answer to the original question we can expect Stud's earnings from last night to be approx $250-$300, and 50% of that goes to the adoption groups. We'll know the exact amount when we get the point values for the week Smile

Angela is taking over my job, but she is correct.Points have been rising each week in the winter and have been in the high nineties.

There is about a two week lag between the race date and when points are reported.

The total win for STUD would be about $285 @ $95 and the Raceforadoption share is half of that or $143 approx.

Stud needs to hustle his butt right up to A, then. 4 points for a D win is slim pickins.
