No Cover Becki appears to have hit a brick wall. After Advancing to Grade C with a nice win in her very first night race she finished 8th in her last three races. She will be going back to Grade D. Not what I expected at all. I thought she would really take a liking to the Tampa track.

I know how you feel. I've only had my racers 4 weeks and already been through a lot of ups and downs with them!

Don't lose heart though, Indie is still young and learning and will hopefully bounce back, and have a change of luck. I will be rooting for her.

Sorry Dave. I hope it is just a temporary back slip.

Young dogs aren't predictable at all, not to mention that racing can be strenuous. She's either had bad racing luck or a little soreness she can't tell us about.

Dave,

Do not dispair. Tampa/St.Pete are TOP 5 TRACKS!

Any dog that can even win 1 race there, is a GOOD dog!

I have owned greyhounds since 1992 and I have NEVER had a greyhound race at Tampa or St. Pete.

Keep the faith brother!!

Dave, being an old trainer, I am always skeptical of any greyhound who runs 8th 3 times in a row. When they do that, they're usually trying to tell you something. If there is no apparent injury, or other problem, perhaps a front end or a schooling race is in order? While winning grade D is no guarantee of success in the next grade, three 8th place finishes in a row are always cause for concern.

No Cover Becki has been off for about a week and she is scheduled to school tomorrow so we will see how things go. Becki talked to John last week and he did not see any obvious injuries.

He did say that she does have a habit of losing interest in the race when she is not on the lure. Maybe they need a to get a bigger bunny at Tampa. Grin

No Cover Becki schooled pretty well today. She was just nipped at the wire and finished second by a nose. I hope this is a sign of a rebound for her.

After running what I consider to be fairly well @ ST Pete, my dog has also taken a step or two backwards @ Tampa. The trainer is telling me she(the dog,not the trainer) doesn't enjoy the commute from the compound in St Pete over to Tampa. i think she is running part of her race before she gets to the box! Her stride is choppy too early.....I really miss seeing the live video feed from St Pete and look forward to their season.

Sounds like your girl is getting back in the groove- good luck to her.
