I am wondering why, when a greyhound is listed as owned by two people, it is usually stated as X "or" Y instead of X "and" Y. For example, Rocksteady Eddie is listed on the Greyhound-data website as being owned by Jimmy King or Edward Trow instead of Jimmy King and Edward Trow. Also when there are two owners, does each normally receive a 50% share of the owner's profits? (I know that the trainer, kennel owners, etc. also receive percentages but I am only asking about the owner's percentage being split.) I was thinking that maybe the Trow's managed Eddie during his racing career in Wisconsin and the King's managed his stud career in Oklahoma.

Whether it's "and" or "or," the dog is co-owned by the persons listed on the NGA certificate. The "and" and "or" have several legal ramifications, especially regarding the sale of the dog. In the case of "or," for instance, either individual can sign over ownership of the dog without requiring the signatures of both owners.

Exactly Martin!

For many owners, it is easier to put "OR" for the registration, that way they don't have to mail the partially signed transfer form to the other owner, before the transfer can be complete.
